Preparation & Storage

Preparation - Deveining, Peeling and Deheading

  1. Deveining and peeling our fresh shrimp is optional.  Our shrimp molt frequently, making their shell soft and thin.  No need to devein our shrimp because their environment and feed is free of antibiotics, hormones, toxins, and pollutants.
  2. Cooking our shrimp with their heads on will enhance the flavor of the meat.  After cooking, heads are easily removed, if preferred.

Storage - Refrigeration and Freezing

Fresh shrimp is very perishable.

  • Shrimp should be eaten within 2 days for best flavor.
    • Uncooked shrimp may be stored in a sealed container in the coolest part of your refrigerator.
    • Cooked shrimp may be stored in the same manner for an additional 2 days.
  • Shrimp may be stored frozen , if packed and sealed tightly, for up to 6 months.
    • Heads MUST be removed before freezing fresh shrimp.
    • Once defrosted, keep refrigerated and use within 3 days.
    • Do not refreeze shrimp.
